Bangkok is the primate and capital city of Thailand . Bangkok among the people there is called in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon and in short the same name in Thai is pronounced as Krung Thep . The city is lying near the Gulf and on the bank of River Chao Phraya. Bangkok though small city is the 22 nd most populated city of the world with around 20 million people according to the estimation of some experts. Bangkok is best chosen for the investment by the foreigners for business and the city is also been the gateway for the foreign interests of Asia seeking new interests in the markets from long time. The city has its prominence in Southeast Asia being the financial and major economic center.

 

The city has its name in the sky scrapers and stands one among the fastest countries in constructing of high rise buildings. Tourism is the high revenue earning department of Thailand with Bangkok topping the rank in the country. Bangkok is bordered by Nakhom Pathom, Chachoengasao, Nonthaburi, Samut Sakhon, Pathum Thani and Samut Prakan. The history of the city dates back to its origin from !350 which started as a port community and a small trading center o the River bank of Chao Phraya which served the Ayutthaya kingdom. Chao Phraya is the main serving and geographical feature of the city, deltas of the river lead to the Bay of Bangkok which have divided the land into small patches and canals and have given the city a pride title “Venice of the East”. This river feature was earlier used for dividing the city into districts making easy for the administration that was canceled and new system is been in use from second half of the 20 th century.

 

It's hard to protect the city from floods during monsoons as it is just 2 mts above the sea level and city is sinking 2 inches every year climate of the city is tropical monsoon and is said to have highest average temp in world. Another specialty in the monsoon is that people are not aware of the hailstorms; one hailstorm has been recorded since 50 years.

Bangkok has fifty administrative divisions called the districts or the khets that come under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. There is huge expansion in the city's business districts and the residential ones with the inflow of the capital and the people. With this rise in the population having no area to spread horizontally city is growing vertically and is rated 17 th among the tallest cities of the world.

 

The city is a great pace for entertainment and fun especially the nightlife which can be rated the best in the world. Many clubs always crowded with live music and jazz all around the city are spread across. There are many sight seeing opportunities having many historic moments that tell the history of the rulers, culture, art and the growth of the city into this huge massive modernized attractive part of the Southeast Asia . The theatres in the city have been operating since early days of the 20 th century keeping live the cultural moments and the art of the country.
