Sights at Nice
The sun and sea attracts tourists to the French Riviera and its unofficial capital delivers so much more, from museums to the lively flower market. But there is more to Nice than the sun and sea. The following are the must –sees sights in the city of Nice .
Palais Lascaris:
It is a fine example of the Baroque architecture and is situated in the city's historic core and is linked to the Lascaris family It was built in the 17 th century and was classified as a historic monument after its restoration in 1946.The most beautiful floor is the étagère noble, retaining many of its 18 th century panels and plater embellishments.
Promenade des Anglais :
It was built in the 19 th century by English residents, the Promenade and attracts the rich and fashionable from all over the world who keep up the tradition of early evening stroll before dinner. For the local inhabitants, the Promenade des Anglais has simply become the Promenade or for short La Prom. On Sundays, bicyclists, baby strollers, and whole families can be seen out for a stroll along the Promenade. It has its blue chairs and cabanas perfect for a lazy time and for contemplation of the azure blue water of the Bay of Angels
Court Saleya:
This area just off the old town of Nice comes to life early each morning with markets of flowers, food and antiques on Mondays. The court Saleya is a place of entertainment, in between the good restaurants, the markets and multiple pubs. It no doubt is the most active spot in Nice.
Chateau:
A Chateau is a residence of the lord of the manor or a country house of nobility and gentry. The Chateau de Versailles is so called because it was located in the country when it was built, but it does not bear any resemblance to a castle, so it is usually known as Palace of Versailles . The flower-filled, Landscaped Park of colline du chateau was once the heart of ancient Nice. Nowadays it is the favorite spot for wonderful views across the town and out to sea.
Place Massena:
It is the heart of Nice-the pulse of the city radiates out from here. Elegant buildings and arcades, all of which are painted a striking red, surround the square contrasting with the enigmatic art sculptures that adorn the fountain centerpiece. The square also boasts an elaborate fountain representing the nine planets of the solar system.
Nice Beach:
The most important attraction of the city stretches for 4km from the airport to the colline du chateau tree- dappled hill above nice old Town. They are of smooth stones. The beaches are sand which you need for building sand castles.
Museum of contemporary and modern art:
It is built in grey marble, glass and brushed metal. Its view stretches for miles around from the top floor making it and great place. The different sections of the museums are linked together with glass passageways. The art displayed here includes the work of Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, and Robert
Port of Nice:
The port of Nice is a first port cement manufacturer of France in connection with the treatment plants of the rollers of the valley of Paillon . It constitutes today the principal harbor installation of Nice.
