Sights of Barcelona

 

Barcelona has a vast ancient history from the early 13th century. It was ruled by the Romans and has faced many wars. It has a strong religious believes and most of the sight-seeing places are churches built in the early times. The churches are basilica structured. Cathedral of Santa Eulalia was constructed throughout the 13th century and was completed in the 19th century. It was built as a thanks giving gesture to God and dedicated to Eulalia of Barcelona who was a young virgin girl and had suffered humiliations in the hands of the Romans. There is a secluded part in the cathedral were 13 geese are kept in remembrance of the young girl.

 

La Sagrada Família is a huge Roman Catholic basilica its Construction began in 1882 at Barcelona in Spain and it was formally called Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família. The project took over 40 years,by Antoni Gaudi. Basilica which is constructed now with the old version and well as with modern design. It is one of the most populated visited site in Spain . It has a typical christian type of structure. There are about 18 towers representing the twelve Apostles of Jesus The virgin Mary, the four Evangelist, and the tallest tower is that of Jesus Christ.

Casa Mila is designed by architect Antoni Gaudi and was built by Roger Segimon de Mila built in the years from 1905 to 1907. It is considered as a landmark of Barcelona.with is magnificient and breathtaking structure. The structure brings to mind the the receding of sand dunes, the African tribal like dwellings in caves .or like waves of lava, it has a very wavy like ups and downs in the structutre of the entire building.

 

Santa Maria is a chapel built in the by King Alfons. It is a basilica typed structured, unlike the other Gothic churches of that time. It has faced natural disaster earth-quake and further it was destroyed by fire during the anti-clerical movement.. It is situated in the bylanes of Riberia thus not given it an impressive look. There is a chapel of the blessed sacramemt. The interiors are very impressive with lovely rose-windows and severity. The windows give in ample sunlight giving it a spacious look.

Portal de Angel. Is one of the most popular place visited by the tourist and locals alike, it is a very busy street always very crowded. It is a place of pedestrian's delight. There are many departmental stores housing the worlds branded product. It is the second most expensive place in spain .

 

Casa Batllo has a very unique design by Gudi the architect has planned it in the visceral skeletal type structure none of the columns of the building has straight structure it resembles like the bony human skeleton like structure. It is also known as the House of bones. It was built for the middle class families. with sculpted stone-work and mosiac decoration.

 

Museu Nacional d'artde It is the catalunga museum where art from all the periods are displayed. Roman esque art, Gothic art, renaissance art, Boroque art, modern art,photography and paintings. It houses a vast collection of numismatics coins of various periods.

 

Hotel art Torre Mapf ,Torre AGBAR,Torre de collserola,El Eusauche,Gracia, La Barceloneta,and Santalo-san cervasi are some of the remarkable sight-seeing places in Barcelona.
